I just scheduled 2 more shoots for Bella Leo Photography- Ok, now I am apprehensive and just a little scared. I am booked every weekend from now until the end of July, and I have one session scheduled for August. It's all coming so fast, and I feel like I'm not really ready. I know I can do it, and I believe everyone who says I have a talent for this. But am I really good enough to be charging people right now?
When I doubt myself, Brian likes to say I'm fishing for compliments. I'll take them if anyone is giving them. But honestly I'm more looking for the constructive criticism. Someone who can tell me, "not your best work, try again." There is so much more to learn. Although Ruby said it best: "gotta start somewhere." I'm not going into this with all the knowledge I will gain on the other side.
The question still remains: good enough to charge? Can I honestly sell my photos to people and not feel bad about it? How much would you pay for an amateur photographer?

id pay 80 bucks for a session with just the cd to be honest. and thats because im cheap.
Ruby is right, "You gotta start somewhere." How else do you think photographers get better? Practice makes perfect but at the same time you've had 2+ years of practice so I think it's completely fine for you to charge. I'd pay ya :) Bob and I got our engagement photos done from a high school friend of mine who was still in her amateur phase. We paid $300 for the rights to 6 images! I look at her pics now and I fell we got gypped. So keep prices low and once you've learned more then you can charge more :) I think you're doing great so keep up the good work :)
you should make shanny just your photos! she's always been good at that :)
Crotchie, I think in a few months I'll set my price as $80 for a cd and take away my prints+cd package.
Diane, that is exactly what I'm talking about! I don't want to charge people and have them feel it was a waste of money. There are so many people out here who don't have a clue what they are doing and they charge upwards of $150. I would be pissed if they gave me those pictures, and I just don't want people to feel that about my photos.
Megan, I have Shanny in my head every time I do a session. Always telling me to watch my cropping, lighting, and be fast! lol. But her words were: "practice what? you got this"
